A significant challenge utilizing pET vectors for bacterial expression has been the cost and uncertainty associated with vectors that have been patented. In order to tackle this problem, DNA2.0 has developed a new family of vectors called pJexpress that are free of IP constraints. pJexpress vectors are specifically engineered to express proteins at high levels and have been shown to express better than comparable pET vectors. pJexpress vectors carry a copy of the lacI gene and symmetrical lac operators to ensure optimal repression prior to induction.
